As exciting as it is to land a cookbook publishing contract or decide to self-publish your own book of recipes, the process can be very overwhelming. First of all, there’s the proposal (if you’re pitching to commercial publishing companies), outline, and recipe list. Then, there’s the recipe development, which involves lots of testing (both by yourself and by a professional recipe tester), and the writing, which can feel especially daunting if this is your first cookbook. Oh yeah, and while all that is swirling around, you’re also expected to coordinate with a photographer, create a shot list, and organize the photo shoot so everything is delivered by the publisher’s deadline.
Lucky for you, I love helping authors navigate the cookbook writing process—and with 20 years of professional publishing experience and a cookbook of my own, I know what I’m doing. Here are the coaching, consulting, and project management services I offer:
Lucky for you, I love helping authors navigate the cookbook writing process—and with 20 years of professional publishing experience and a cookbook of my own, I know what I’m doing. Here are the coaching, consulting, and project management services I offer:
- Publishing Consultations—Want to publish a cookbook, but don’t know where to start? Need some advice for finding an agent, writing a book proposal/query letter, or navigating the self-publishing route? Get a 1-hour phone or video consultation with me for $200.
- Cookbook Coaching Sessions—As a writing coach, I help clients create outlines for their books, set attainable goals, stay inspired and on-track, and deliver their manuscripts on time. Pay $200 for a 1-hour video or phone session, or get 6 (1-hour) sessions over the span of 3 to 6 months for $1,000.
- Cookbook Project Management—For an agreed-upon fee, depending on the scope of the project, I will manage the production of your cookbook manuscript. This includes coaching you through the writing and recipe development process, hiring and managing a recipe tester, developing a list of recipes to be photographed, coordinating with the book’s photographer to schedule and manage the photo shoot(s), reviewing tested recipes, compiling all recipes and other narrative text into one document for submission, and ensuring that all text and photographs are delivered on time to the publisher.
